Students, the second trimester will begin very soon and you will be asked to make a new reading goal in language arts. Please give your peers some book recommendations! What individual books or series have you read that you LOVE and think others should read?

Then, in the white box, type in what book you love and tell us a little about it (a short summary would be nice)! Please don't forget to write your name at the end of your posting! When you are done typing, you will have identify who you want to "comment as." Where it says, "comment as," click the up and down arrow button and you will see a list of options in terms of who you can comment as. Comment as "anonymous" (this is the easiest). 1. Read Esperanza Rising!

Here is a short summary from Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/Esperanza-Rising-Pam-Munoz-Ryan/dp/043912042X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322440752&sr=8-1):

Esperanza thought she'd always live with her family on their ranch in Mexico--she'd always have fancy dresses, a beautiful home, and servants. But a sudden tragedy forces Esperanza and Mama to flee to California during the Great Depression, and to settle in a camp for Mexican farm workers. Esperanza isn't ready for the hard labor, financial struggles, or lack of acceptance she now faces. When their new life is threatened, Esperanza must find a way to rise above her difficult circumstances--Mama's life, and her own, depend on it.

We love this book because it is inspirational. Although Esperanza was faced with many challenges throughout this book, her determination and strong heart helped her become successful.
