Student-Led Conferences Start Next Week!

We will have our first night of student-led conferences on Thursday, October 27 from 4:30-7:00 p.m. The second night of fall conferences will be Tuesday, November 1 from 4:30-7:00 p.m.

Students are asked to join their guardians at conferences; our conferences are not considered "parent-teacher."

Students and parents, when you enter Sparta Middle School the night you are coming to conferences, you will walk down to the sixth grade hallway. Students, you will grab your encore and core class folders, binders, notebooks, etc. from your locker. Next, you will bring all of your class items into Mr. McDowell's classroom (room 7, right across from Mrs. Ley's room).

Students, when you enter Mr. McDowell's classroom, you can introduce your parents to your teachers, grab your conference paperwork from your advisory teacher, then find a seat with your parents.

Students will "drive" their own conference by going through conference reflection paperwork and each of their encore and core class folders, binders, notebooks, etc. Parents, you are encouraged to let your student talk and show you their work.

In Mr. McDowell's classroom, the Explorer Team teachers (Mrs. Ley, Mrs. Owen, Mrs. Pfahler, and Mrs. Frazier) will be walking around and meeting with as many of you as possible. We cannot guarantee that each of us will get to talk to you, however.
